A proven approach to mentoring…
All mentoring with Positive Pathways follows the same proven 4-step process that has delivered results for young people and their families.
Meet - Initial 30-minute walk-and-talk
Relate - Establishing mutually trusting relationships
Build - Goal setting and confidence building
Challenge - Monitor goals and extend expectations
Meet
Young people choose their trusted adults. An initial 30-minute session, involving a fun activity, gives the young person time to establish if they want to work further with me.
Relate
Children follow those they trust. Without it, the adult is part of the white noise that they already have.
1 hour 1:1 sessions, sometimes involving activities, allows this trust to be built.
Build
Building goals that are tangible and achievable through 1-hour sessions that may be 1:1, with parents, and with the school.
Children crave boundaries and clear expectations that allow them to achieve their potential. By involving them in creating these goals, the young people I work with are invested in their success.
Challenge
Continuing 1-hour sessions with young person, parents and school to closely monitor achievement of goals.
Celebrating success, challenging young peoples’ choices in a safe space, and identifying new targets characterises this stage.
